Suffering, Man of sorrows – It touches young to old – in the Old Testament it was seen as a sign of sin in your life eg. Job – Coming of Christ changed that thought – Isaiah 53 spoke so much of Christ, a man of sorrows – a thick darkness where God is to be found – people carry sorrow and grief, God knows it all – The heart can react differently to suffering, some harden others soften – God sees all and knows every hurt given and taken – Your suffering may not go, but you find a strength and knowledge of a deeper God – Example of A Carmichael, from a bed of pain, books touched many lives and also found Christ there.

Monday, February 20th, 2006

This sermon was recorded on the evening of Saturday February 11th, 2006 in our Glasgow Church. The speaker is Mrs. Grace Gault.

Speaking Notes

Esau sold his birthright – Jacob has a much higher view of the importance of the birthright than Esau had – Esau saw the birthright as no value in his eyes, he lost it in his carelessness – He is a naturally minded man – Jacob is spiritually minded and valued the birthright – God must have seen the deeper parts of their hearts to grant the transition – There are some who give away their birthright easily and those like Moses who sell all to get the birthright – All that matters is the spiritual inheritance – Those who have responsibility for children should take particular note of this, that you may witness this – What do you let come between you and your inheritance? – Could it be your character, a divided heart, hidden idols and sins? – Don’t sell it for a mess of pottage.

Podcast #5: New Year Conference – Sunday, January 1st, 2006, Morning

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

This sermon was recorded on the morning of Sunday January 1st, 2006 in our Greenock Church. The speaker is Mrs. Grace Gault.

Speaking Notes

Make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them. I will commune with them above the mercy seat. Communion speaks of two people speaking together. There are many things that would disturb our deep communion with Him. Come prepared before Him. He made us in His image, in our un fallen nature. If you are in a close relationship with someone and something disturbs it, you need to get it sorted. How much more does this feel with God. Our communion should be resolved and made deeper, not a year off, doubtful, but putting others and material things before Him. The mercy seat is the cross of Calvary, it speaks of sacrifice.
