Genesis 32 v 22 – When a soul meets with God, it transforms life and gives a purpose to life itself. We need to seek, desire and expect an encounter with God. Without this, Christian life does not work. Moses encountered God in the burning bush. Paul lived a righteous and zealous life, but needed an encounter with God. God met him on the Damascus road and transformed him. That I might know Him – was now his desire. Jacob decided how to oppose Esau on his own, but he was left alone at Jabok and then God met him. He touched him and showed him he must be dependant on God and God alone – God went before him. This is our God too. We need an ongoing encounter with God where he shows us the next step and the things that belong to Him. Come into the place that he will show you.

1 John 5 v 20, John 21, We can know the true God and be thrilled in Him. The disciples were to become fishers of men. The turning of the tide in spiritual life in this land and the breathing of God in us. Peter had fallen, yet God strengthened him to become the solid rock. Peter’s confession of his love for Jesus came from deep within. Do you love Jesus more than these? Have you brought in all the tithes?

Acts 4v13 – Reference to the life story of Watchman Nee. He was imprisoned and tortured for going against the tide of opposition for following Christ. The tide of popular opinion is always against the life of Christ. To be Christ’s disciple we were told to take up our cross. The disciples didn’t ask that the threats would cease, they asked for more boldness in preaching the word of God. Take your stand for Christ in all your circumstances and you will be filled with God and grow in boldness. Your spiritual muscles will grow and you will become stronger in Him. Look at the uncompromising boldness of God.

The story of David Wilkerson’s grandfather. We can become too used to the presence of the Spirit. It takes integrity not to lose the sharp edge of the sword. History shows that early spiritual fire dies down. Spiritual revival could come in a moment. We should walk each day in preparedness, ready for opportunities to witness. Break everything within that blocks the Holy Spirit. We have access to the power of the Holy Spirit every week.

Joshua 10 & 14. Follow your calling. Caleb taking possession of the promise given by God through Moses. The battle at Jericho – the Lord gives victory to all, and this was a wonderful start in gaining the land. We are like Achan, taking that which is given to God, and not finding victory in our life – we become careless. God wants the sin in our life exposed and dealt with. Renew your covenant with God – if you make a mistake, God will stand by you. Are you wholeheartedly following God? Do you have other things in life that try to share your spiritual life? Don’t let satan trick you out of your call destroy the idol within you.
