Struthers Memorial Group of Churches is an Independent Pentecostal Fellowship which has been in existence since the early 1950's. Early on in the history of the Movement, one of its founders, Mr Hugh Black, began to realise that at the time of the New Year there was often a sermon preached which came with deep power and contained an element of prophetic wisdom for the year that lay ahead. Soon members of the church began to anticipate this word coming and a note of these specific words has been kept since the mid-1960s.
In the early years the word was given by God to Miss Elizabeth Taylor, co-founder of the Struthers Group of Churches but in later years the word came through the late minister of the Glasgow Church, Miss Mary Black. In 2002 and later years, the Word was given by Mrs. Grace Gault, who is now in charge of the Group of Churches.

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him and his righteousness unto children's children. To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remeber his commandments to do them.
